the attitude of a Muslim

If We give man a taste of Mercy from Ourselves, and then withdraw it from him, behold! he is in despair and (falls into) blasphemy. But if We give him a taste of (Our) favours after adversity hath touched him, he is sure to say, "All evil has departed from me:" Behold! he falls into exultation and pride. Not so do those who show patience and constancy, and work righteousness; for them is forgiveness (of sins) and a great reward.

[Hud : 9-11]

Anguish and delight

If Allah do touch thee with hurt, there is none can remove it but He: if He do design some benefit for thee, there is none can keep back His favour: He causeth it to reach whomsoever of His servants He pleaseth. And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

The class mean marks were as follows:

Mid semester tests: 73.1%
Paper 1 (MCQ): 73.1%
Paper 2: 64.2%
Tutor mark: 8.2 (/10)
Total: 69.8%

Don't have enough words to explain my own reaction knowing the average mark ....

Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school

-Albert Einstein-

This is an interesting question to ponder. Most of our childhood and early adulthood were spend on educating ourselves about what revolves around the world. Countless subjects were taught and examinations remain the standard to which we were measured.

Yet, after all these years, I doubt much of those still remain in our brain. Most of the subjects were being forgotten as quickly as possible when the examination is over. Just realized that I already forgotten some of the things taught last semester *guilty*.

I supposed to know the things that are important to be a good doctor and not just a barely passable doctor. Hopefully the clinical years ahead will enlighten me again on the forgotten knowledge ;)

research

Now that I know my exam result already....I can focus now on my research. Need to do several info-gathering first :)

The weather is getting colder and winter is approaching very soon. Have to use heater more often nowadays. Expect the electricity bill to increase several folds.

reality

When trouble toucheth a man, He crieth unto Us (in all postures)- lying down on his side, or sitting, or standing. But when We have solved his trouble, he passeth on his way as if he had never cried to Us for a trouble that touched him! thus do the deeds of transgressors seem fair in their eyes!

heart

In the epidemic of World Cup fever....one main symptom will be quite obvious and seriously need to be taken care of. The heart. Yeah..the heart.

Just imagine this situation...your favourite team is leading by 1-0 but in the very last 10 minute...the opponent scores 2 goals and suddenly, your favourite team is losing. There goes the precious three points off one match. Die hard fans surely will have heart attack watching this kind of hope-being-destroyed-in-10-minutes-environment.

Another situation is when your favourite football player kicks the ball but it hits goal post. Your heart beats faster and quicker than ever. Watching a football match is a very dynamic process. Hope, wish, anger, sombre..you name it...all those emotions emerged throughout the match. And you are not the only one experiencing this emotional outburst. Thousands, millions fans out there watch the match around the globe.

The World Cup certainly attracts lots of attention. People from all walks of life, the young and old...all come together to watch the match. I certainly suggest to those who are going to watch a very tense football match to check their heart prior. Who knows your might be having a sudden heart attack in the middle of the match.

Only those who have brave and strong heart can watch the World Cup. Feeble heart should shy away ;)

p/s: Wonder what will happen if Brazil lost a match....

edit

Lately I have been occupied with editing the template of this blog. Probably the word 'editing' is not suffice to describe it. I am planning to have totally new template but I have to start from scratch which is quite difficult and time consuming.

If you explore the world of weblogs, most of the websites conformed to typical design. A sandwich design. A header on top and a footer below with three or two columns in the middle. There are several other designs beside this but the sandwich design, as I called it, was the norm. Probably I would stick to the typical one.

Currently, I am only familiar with CSS and HTML and still learning bout those two. That should be enough for the time being I think. Designing is a difficult process yet at the end of this hurdle, a great pleasure is what I sought for :)

painting the leaves

Intan asked me whether I can change the colour of the leaves into orange. Aliya later asked for red or pink. Managed to do that in several minutes. From then onwards, the leaves changed colours again and again. Check below for the results :)....

the original picture is in the previous post...err, i think i forgot to paint for red ;)...anyway, enjoy the pictures..

editing pictures

the picture above is the original picture. A scene somewhere in Melbourne University. I think it is still autumn as the yellow golden leaves still remain on the tree.

The pictures below ....well, I edited these pictures using photoshop. At least by doing this, it sharpened my skills on photoshop after one semester not using any related-skill at all.

it sounds weird to me

Being taught at oversea certainly deprived me from knowing the local terms for any diseases. Imagine my surprise when I read this news title in malay...

Theresa mati akibat radang selaput otak

I said what the...It took minutes for me to figure what was the disease but to no avail. At last, I clicked the title and hence the exact term of 'radang selaput otak' in English. Funny :)

Can you guess what the disease is ;)

a friend

A real friend wishes his companions well,
He's not one who allows them to get close to hell,
Always be careful of the friends you Choose,So, in the end,
Jannah you will not lose,
If you find your companion is not stopping your wrong,
then, be weary, his friendship is not strong.
If you see the pattern made, that when you are under your friend's shade,
Your Imaan begins to fade,
Leave the worthless creation, make friends with Allah, Surely that is a high station!.
A dervish who had knowledge of our present situation,
Once told his students the following dictation,
"The meeting of people will never enrich you,
save with the gibberish of useless gossip.
So diminish your meeting with people,
except for knowledge or to improve your condition"

Rasulullah Sal'Allahu'alayhiwasalam said:

"The best of companions in Allah's view is the best among them to his companion, and the best of neighbours in Allah's view is the best among them towards his neighbour."
[sahih Bukhari & Muslim]

This hadith certainly struck my mind. After 5 semesters spend at Melbourne, I doubt I'm good towards neighbours and friends....hmm, that probably questionable too. Let see....the neighbour on left side of the house...spoke only once but many times with his dog ;) the dog always barked now and then. Even in the midnight. How noisy the dog is.

The neighbour on the right...well, there are local students next door. I think we have good relationship with them.

let see...friends..close friends, i think i can count few. 5 semesters gone...yet close friends were not that many.....this aspect certainly need to be improved thousand and thousand times. Sometimes, many people misunderstood me. Sorry for that. I'm not that good in communicating and expressing something.

How about you? the one who read this. Have you been good towards your friends and neighbours all these while :)...something to ponder upon...

Dust is my bed

Certainly this video remind us the end of our transient journey in this world.

close to home...

relieved

Finally, my semester exam is over. Four straight days of exam clearly took its toll on me. Stress, panicky as the time of exam approaches and a bit sleep-deprived.

Alhamdulillah, the exam was not that difficult although I did several mistakes. Hopefully I will get good marks from this exam. Into Allah SWT alone, a person hope and he should become content to whatever the result will be...becoz deep in his heart, he should know that those results were the best and the most suitable for him.

5 semesters at the university and another 7 semesters at the hospital.....a journey that will be over without me ever realising it...

Tomorrow or to be exact here at Melbourne, tonight...the old pandemic of World Cup will strike again. The pandemic will spread from Germany right across the globe. Most XY chromosomes will be affected and having XX chromosomes is protective. Nevertheless, this pandemic has gained more virulence factors and some people with XX already infected.

Nevertheless, there are more important things to do than spending all the free time watching all the matches :)
