Stage 2 Water Restrictions are now in place

The following water restrictions apply in metropolitan Melbourne from 1 November 2006.
Use manual watering systems only between 8 pm and 10 am
Manual watering systems can only be used between the hours of 6:00 am and 8:00 am and between the hours of 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm on alternate days*.
Use manual watering systems only between 8 pm and 10 am
Automatic watering systems can only be used between the hours of midnight and 4:00am on alternate days*.
Use manual watering systems only between 8 pm and 10 am
Hand-held hoses with a trigger nozzle, a bucket or watering can be used at any time to water gardens.
Use manual watering systems only between 8 pm and 10 am
Watering of lawns is banned.
* Alternate days means odd numbered houses can water on odd dates of the month and even numbered houses can water on even numbered dates.

Currently Melbourne is facing quite severe drought. With the coming state elections at the end of November, the issue of water has become hot topic. Even Howard is also being blamed for not approving the Kyoto Protocol.

Most of the days were hot and cloudless. If this kind of pattern continues till summer, life will be a bit difficult. Hopefully the rain will come....
